U.S. Tariffs On India | 50% U.S. Tariffs: Drop In Demand Puts Bikaner’s Wool And Carpet Industry At Risk

The wool and carpet industry in western Rajasthan, particularly in Bikaner, is reeling under pressure after the US government imposed a 50% tariff on Indian imports.

With annual exports of yarn and carpets worth around ₹1,200 crore, most of it headed to the US, the move has sharply hit demand, raising fears of large-scale unemployment among skilled artisans.

Industry representatives warn that the steep tariff could cripple operations and force many workers to abandon the trade.
